Canon A3000 IS Review

Canon PowerShot-A3000 IS

I tend to buy snap shot cameras with little research. They are something I buy before going on vacation and replace every year or so. This time I bought a Nikon CoolPix. Nice camera, horrible interface. I gave It to my daughter and went to buy a Canon because I am use to the dial interface since I use a D300. BestBuy had the A3000 on sale for $130. Low Carb Hiking

As a lightweight backpacker I striving to lose weight in my pack but also on my person, I have taken to the low carb way of life. After my health greatly improving and my weight dropped 110 lb. I can say it works for me. What has become a challenge is maintaining a low carb lifestyle while backpacking. You see, when your backpacking, you really don’t want to skimp on calories. You will also want to increase your carb intake by a small amount. This is all fine and dandy, but the issue is that not many manufacturers make low carb trail foods. Don’t fret, there are products and foods that are low weight, work in hot and cold environments and are low carb.

Some notes: You may notice that Atkin’s very own bars are not on the list. Well that is because I live in Florida and Atkin’s doesn’t currenty make a bar that can survive the heat.

Part of this may be due to the fact that my hikes have gotten longer and I rather enjoy seeing what I can do without while on the trail. Simplifying my life. A nice change from the corporate IT world I dwell in on a daily basis. Read the rest of this entry
