ESEE-4 – Perfect Survival

I started collection knives when I was 8.  A little crazy sounding, but fact.  I have always loved knives.  Not swords or crazy fantasy knives either.  Since the beginning I have been enamored by working blades.  Growing up in Newfoundland Canada and living a stones throw from the woods, I spend much of my youth hiking and camping.  I always had a knife in hand for the various tasks you encounter when away from civilization.  I quickly came to a preference for a survival/utility knife.  Something along the lines of the Loveless Drop Point Hunter.

It’s been a while since I purchased a knife for survival in the wilderness. After a little research, I found a company that does wilderness survival training and also makes knives for use in their course.  ESEE Knives (formerly Rat Cutlery) makes some of the best designs in my opinion.  Similar in design to the Loveless, but with some utilitarian features like Canvas Micarta handles and a beautiful Kydex sheath.

More after the jump…
